Text Box: Wild Kingdom Create WILD art projects! Hike through the great animal kingdoms of the world and learn about the colorful creatures, flowers, trees and other living things that grow in nature. Students will learn basic art principles of drawing, painting, color mixing, perspective and composition. They will create animal sculptures, paper mache puppets, make paintings of a favorite pet, and create Aboriginal art prints. Age appropriate projects will be designed to encourage self-exploration, confidence in art creation, and most of all, imagination and fun during this week brimming with surprises. Acrylic paint, oil pastel, watercolor, clay, charcoal and colored pencils are some of the other media to be explored while learning about animals and their habitats.   Oceans of Art Come aboard! Sail the seas and discover what lies beneath in this ocean adventure where colorful fish, a long-armed octopus, a silly seahorse and other marine life swim among sunken treasure and painted seashells. A trusty boat or a watchful lighthouse may help but look out for the mermaids and sea monsters swimming nearby! Students will delight in creating their underwater fantasies using a “boat-load” of art materials such as clay, acrylic paint, colored pencils, oil pastels, markers, seashells, craft papers and, of course, watercolors!    Incredible India! This camp focuses on the colorful culture and art of India. Artists will enjoy crafting a decorative trinket box, embellished vessel and batik wall hanging as well as drawing beautiful peacocks, camels and other treasures from India. Children will have fun as they work with materials such as raffia, string, feathers, paper mache, and clay. With tempera paint, acrylic paint, watercolor, markers and craft papers, we’ll create projects that highly involve patterns and designs found in India.   Magical Garden  During this camp, we’ll let nature provide the inspiration as we draw beautiful flowers, insects, magical garden fairies, birds and other heartwarming critters. Also, make room in the garden - students will create outdoor art, too. Discovery Art Studio is bringing Summer Camp 2010 to Bellevue Children’s Academy. All classes will draw a variety of subjects ranging from plants, animals, people and objects and a variety of media will be explored appropriate to each age level. We’ll have a short snack break, stretch and run around outside on the school’s playground, then come back in to work on a craft project.                                                                

 

So, DON’T FORGET TO PACK A SNACK!

 

We will share our creations on the last day of each week and all artwork will be ready to take home at that time.
